In 1959 Peter Rijs moved his family to take up a manager position at the Bruthen bakery.

After working at the Lakes Entrance bakery for three years, Peter and Annie bought a local bakery in 1966 called Patties Cake Shop named after the original owner's wife - Pattie Neat - Patties Foods Ltd.

By 1969 three of Peters sons had joined the business, along with an additional two sons in 1972. As the business progressed, the Cake Shop could no longer cater to the increasing demand for Patties products and a new bakery was built in Lakes Entrance in 1974.

In 1976, Patties Foods acquired the Sunicrust Bairnsdale bakery and further acquistions take place over the forthcoming years. In 1985,  a new pie factory is built & production is moved to Bairnsdale.  In 1986, Patties begins distribution to Melbourne.

Since then Patties Foods has now grown into one of the largest pie manufacturers in the country and has also expanded the business to include frozen fruits.

The Patties Foods company is today a publicly listed company on the Australian Stock Exchange, yet retains the pride and passion of the original founders, with an unwavering commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

Our guarantee of quality is also a reflection of the pride and care our dedicated staff take in producing the home made, quality products that only a country bakery can deliver.
